Hi Bobby

Please help. I drive an Opel Corsa 1.7 diesel bakkie. Its engine has
been done over recently, but I have a problem now. The bakkie gets
warm after just 5km. What can the problem be?

Greetings. – Jannie

You will always get the same problem. With every engine overall you
have to clean or replace the radiator and water pump. You must also
just double check if your timing is right. The cooling concentrate
must then be just 50% water and 50% coolant.

Hi Bobby

I have an Opel Kadett 160. My engine light goes on every time I put
the car in reverse. The orange battery light goes on when I switch the
car off. Please help, Robbie. Thank you.

It looks like a simple earth problem. There must be two earth wires on
the engine. It’s usually both on the intake side. The battery terminal
negative also has two earth wires. Just make sure there is nothing
loose.

Hi Bobby

I just love my Mazda 323 (130) 2001 model. Lately I have a problem
with my starter, or it can even be the ignition, I think. Or maybe the
battery. What is does, is: After standing a while, when I turn the
key, it would just give me a tick sound. I have to do this for at
least 2 times, then it starts normal. Sometimes I would actually have
to let the car roll for a bit before it will start normal. This is now
happening more frequently than before, so I guess the problem is
getting worse. At times it sounds like it is slipping, but it is a
very soft sound. I think it could be the bendix or solenoid. How can I
determine what the problem is? I’ve checked the earth cables, it’s all
fine.
Thank you. – Mr T

Sounds more like the ignition switch is faulty. It would help if you
can fit a starter relay, which works from the ignition to the starter.
Please do a battery load test at a battery centre to determine if your
battery isn’t faulty.

Good day

I had a problem with my car. The fan doesn’t work, so I had to connect
a wire from the coil to the fan. We’ve discovered later that there is
no fire from the coil to the distributor. We add a wire from the
ignition to the coil to get power. Is this a good idea? When I drive a
long distance, the car starts to jerk. Oil is also coming out of the
plug holes. Is that compression or what is that? – VW Fan

VW Fan, I don’t want to be funny, but when last did your car have a
proper service? With a thorough service, the distributor would be
checked and all the loose wires that you’re busy with, wouldn’t be
necessary anymore.

did you have the car looked at, at a dealership or ‘n backyard job? Take the car for a second opinion to a RMI registered workshop where you wont pay for a quote. They will also be able to tell you what was replaced and what not.
